Death of Logan and Bruce Woodworth – Officials have identified pilot Logan Edward Woodworth, 28, and his father, Bruce Edward Woodworth, 58, both of Wilmington, North Carolina, as victims of the plane crash which happened near Colonial Beach, Va., on Wednesday morning. Authorities say the father and son both died in a plane crash in the state of Virginia.
Virginia State Police were dispatched to the scene of a plane crash at 10:28 a.m. on June 7, 2023, which occurred in the area of 687 Layton Landing Rd. near Colonial Beach, Virginia. According to the police report, a Vans R6 single-engine aircraft had crashed into a cornfield near a driveway and then burst into flames. Police told People that the father and son were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, and they confirmed that there were no other people on the ground who were injured in the crash.
In a statement that was included in a WECT broadcast, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) acknowledged that the experimental Van’s RV6 crashed “under unknown circumstances” after the plane took off from “a runway private landing site near Colonial Beach, Virginia”. According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), “the aircraft was destroyed in a post-crash fire.”
