Ivete and Sindoval Nunes are the parents of accomplished professional fighter Amanda Nunes. Amanda was born on May 30, 1988, making her 35, as of 2023.
The MMA artist grew up with his two sisters, Valdirene and Vanessa Nunes, in Pojuca, a small town outside of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
Unfortunately, her mother and father separated when she was four years old. Thus, Amanda’s mother raised her alone with her two sisters.
Despite being a single mother, Ivete managed to support Amanda and her sisters by selling candy, hot dogs and cosmetics. The MMA fighter described her mother as a loving but strict parent.
Moreover, Amanda initially aspired to become a professional footballer. The UFC women’s featherweight champion joined the Vitoria soccer club after playing for teams Pojuca and Salvador while still in elementary school.
Her mother, however, had different opinions and advised her to focus on her education. Amanda Nunes’ mother often trained in boxing. Additionally, his uncle competed in Vale Tudo.
Nunes went to training with her mother when she was five years old. Later, she participated in capoeira and at age seven she began training in karate.

As mentioned above, Amanda Nunes has two sisters, Valdirene and Vanessa. When she moved to Salvador, her sister Vanessa was already living there and training in jiu-jitsu.

Sister Nunes shares a close bond and strongly supports each other’s careers. In an interview, Amanda’s Valdirene revealed that they have been supporting them since day one.
Valdirene said their mother put Amanda into training when she was still young. Eventually, she trained in boxing and jiu-jitsu. Valdirene said she and her mother believed in Amanda.
They knew she had a bright future in the world of professional combat. “It’s her destiny. I never doubted that she would become champion,” Nunes’ sister added.
