The BBC has told presenter Chris Hughes that a comment he made to Australian all-rounder Maitlan Brown during The Hundred was “inappropriate”.
Hughes interviewed Brown, 26, pitchside during BBC Two’s coverage of Southern Braves’ win over Trent Rockets.

After Brown said she had been to see the Barbie movie with her Braves teammates, Hughes replied: “You’re a little Barbie yourself with your blue eyes.”
Hughes, who first found fame on Love Island, added: “She’s blushing now.”
The comments were criticized on social media.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the BBC said: “We have spoken to Chris and explained that his comment was not appropriate.”
Christopher Hughes is an English television personality and model. In 2017, he appeared on the third series of the ITV2 reality series Love Island, after which he briefly embarked on a music career alongside co-star Kem Cetinay in the duo Chris & Kem.

Hughes was born on 22 December 1992 in Gloucestershire to Paul, a farmer, and Valerie Hughes. He has one brother, Ben Hughes, and four half-brothers.
In January 2019, Hughes took a live testicular exam on This Morning, to spread cancer awareness. He also revealed having undergone several testicular operations since discovering a varicocele at age 14.
In January 2019, he began dating former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson. The couple split up in April 2020.
