During the interview, Zook’s slurred speech and unsteadiness prompted his transfer to a hospital, where doctors found brain bleeding.

Despite trying to defend himself, Zook could not protect against the attack. Zook tragically passed away on July 16, just a day before his 88th birthday.

The authorities managed to arrest Moore after discovering an article about him scoring a hole-in-one in November 2022, wearing the same clothing he had during the incident.

Detectives were able to identify Moore through a photo that was publicly posted celebrating his golf victory in the Villages-News.

They later confirmed his identity by tracing the credit card used to purchase takeout food from the country club after the incident.

Moore’s actions were captured on surveillance footage, including his return to the club to buy food after the confrontation.

Reportedly, Moore informed deputies that he believed Zook was attempting to leave the accident scene. He also claimed to be unaware of the victim’s age.

The defendant acknowledged that the victim seemed older and frail, but he didn’t realize he was 87,” stated the affidavit.

Following these investigations, Moore was arrested and booked into the Sumter County Detention Center on manslaughter charges.

Following his arrest, he was taken into custody and transferred to the Sumter County Detention Center. He was held on a bond of $30,000.
