Jub Jub, a rapper and TV host from South Africa, has reportedly been detained and charged with rape, attempted murder, and assault, according to Sunday World.
Rape attempted murder, and assault accusations are expected to be heard in Johannesburg magistrate’s court against former Uyajola 9/9 TV presenter and artist Molemo Maarohanye.
According to the publication, Maarohanye turned himself into police on Thursday, July 27, in Brixton after an arrest warrant was issued.
“Police can confirm that a well-known rapper handed himself into the police in Brixton on Thursday, July 27, 2023, after an arrest warrant was issued against him,” said Mavela Masondo, a spokesperson for the Gauteng police.
He is scheduled to appear in court today in Johannesburg on counts of rape, attempted murder, and assault.
When the rapper and TV personality committed, the offenses is currently unknown. Soon, the South African will provide additional details about this incident.
Murder And Rape Case Related To Jub Jub
He and his companion Themba Tshabalala engaged in drag racing while under the influence of hard drugs on a public road close to a school on March 8, 2010, which resulted in a serious collision.
Two more children who survived with brain damage were among the four who died.
Both were given 25-year prison terms on December 5 for murder, attempted murder, and three other offenses. On February 7, 2014, an appeal was heard.
A high court in Johannesburg changed Jub Jub and Tshabalala’s murder verdict from guilty to culpable homicide on October 8, 2014. Starting in 2012, their sentences were lowered from 25 to 10 years.
On Thursday, July 27, SABC News Reporter Chriselda Lewis also stated on Twitter that Gauteng police have confirmed that a famous rapper has turned himself in, been detained, and been charged with alleged rape, attempted murder, and assault. She did not identify the rapper, however.
He is currently in court in Johannesburg, South Africa. Lewis stated that it happened after an arrest warrant was issued.
On Twitter, Newsroom Afrika announced that the rapper, who had appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of rape, attempted murder, and assault, had been given an R10,000 bond.
According to a December 2012 BBC story, the rapper was given a 25-year prison term for the vehicular homicide deaths of four schoolchildren.
He was found guilty in October of drugged driving and racing on a public road in Soweto in 2010. On January 5, 2017, he was granted parole.
