At 52, she began studying scripture from different religions in an attempt to find the truth of god. However, she had no intention of joining any religion.

She also confessed that she left the scripture of Islam until last as she had so much prejudice about it. But when she began reading and had finished only two chapters of the Quran, she realized, “Oh my God, I am home.”

“I had been a Muslim all my life and didn’t realize it,” she remarked in the same interview.

When questioned about her decision to wear a hijab, she responded that she doesn’t do so “all the time.” “I wear it when I feel like it,” she continues.

There are no restrictions on it. Although I am not obligated to wear the hijab at my age, I would classify myself as belonging to the Sufi branch of Islam. I wear it since I like it.

The hijab serves as a simple means of identifying oneself as a Muslim and a family member. The singer went on, “For me, hijab is just like wearing the crucifix.”
