On Monday, July 18, 2023, tragedy struck the Chicago suburb of Hinsdale when 14-year-old Sean Richards was hit by a vehicle while leaving a restaurant with friends.
According to police reports, he had visited the local Fontano’s Subs sandwich shop that evening to pick up food.
Around 5:45 p.m., while the young teenager and his friends were walking through the parking lot to leave, an elderly female driver accidentally collided with him.
Patrick suffered catastrophic blunt force trauma injuries from being hit by the moving car.
First responders took him to Hinsdale Hospital in critical condition, where he fought for his life throughout the week.
Despite intensive medical care, the traumatic injuries were too severe and he heartbreakingly succumbed on July 20.
The driver, a woman in her 70s, said she had not seen the boy before the collision.

Patrick was much loved as a loving and caring son, a remarkable brother and a caring friend to all.
