Wayne Douglas Gretzky, soon Wayne Gretzky is originally from Brantford, Ontario. He was born on January 26, 1961 to his parents, Walter Gretzky and Phyllis Leone, formerly Phyllis Hockin.
The former athlete is said to be of Polish, Belarusian and Ukrainian descent.
The former ice hockey player’s mother and father have a crucial role in his career. Gretzky’s parents lived in an apartment in Brantford after their marriage in 1960. At the time, Walter worked for Bell Telephone Canada.
Seven months after Wayne’s birth, the family moved into a house on Varadi Avenue in Brantford. Part of the reason for this decision was that the yard could be used as a skating rink in the winter.
