Death of Austin Ryan Davis – Two Huntersville teenagers died in a car accident following a pursuit with the Mooresville Police Department, according to law enforcement officials. The victims have been identified as Austin Ryan Davis, 18, and Aiden Daniel Humphries, 16. According to reports, Davis and Humphries died from injuries sustained as a result of the vehicle accident. The accident happened along NC Highway 801 near Back Creek Church Road in Rowan County shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday.

How did the accident happen?
A Mooresville police officer was following a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck as it traveled southeast on the NC 801 freeway. The Chevrolet pickup truck veered off the right side of the road, rolled over, and hit a utility pole. The driver, whose name was Davis, and the passenger, whose name was Humphries, were both found dead at the scene of the crash.
Mooresville police say the chase began at 10:30 p.m. when the car was traveling at 75 mph in a 45 mph zone on Oakridge Farm Highway. Officers attempted to stop the car. The car went on the 801 freeway in North Carolina. Mooresville cops said they saw drink cans thrown out of the car on the NC 801 freeway. The cans thrown out of the car were also caught on dash cam.

The cans told the police that the car could be dangerous for them and for other drivers. The driver lost control of the car during the chase, which led to the fatal crash. Drink cans thrown from the car during the chase were found. The drinks contained in the cans turned out to be alcoholic. At the scene of the crash, the same types of cans were found. From what we know so far, alcohol consumption seems to have played a role. The NC State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation and has requested assistance from liquor law enforcement.
