Rodney Hart-Owens, 24, died in shooting in Omaha, suspect identified

Death of Rodney Hart-Owens – The Omaha Police Department determined Wednesday morning that Rodney Hart-Owens, 24, was the victim of a homicide at All My Sons Moving & Storage, located near the intersection of 86th Street and F Street. A 26-year-old man named Octavian Sanderson was found to be responsible for the crime and was found at an address on South 19th Street. After the fatal shooting in Omaha, Omaha Police Public Information Officer Chris Gordon announced that a person of interest, later identified as Sanderson, had been brought downtown for testing. Sanderson later turned out to be the person of interest.

Gordon believes the incident may have happened only once and police do not believe there is a risk to the general public as a result. According to what he shared, All My Sons contacted emergency services at 7:26 a.m. Thursday. Filming began inside the company’s facilities before moving, more specifically in the parking lot. When the 3 News Now crew arrived, they found a dead body lying on the sidewalk of the parking lot. The victim had been there for some time.

As a result of the ongoing homicide investigation, the section of F Street between 86th and 87th will remain closed for several hours, police said. This is a developing story, and the 3 News Now staff will provide updates as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for these new developments!
