He is charged with belonging to a banned organisation, holding meetings to encourage support for a banned organization and leading a terrorist organization contrary to section 56 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

The 56-year-old man was arrested last week.

Anjem Choudary is a British Muslim activist and cleric known for his controversial and extremist views. He was born on January 18, 1967 in the United Kingdom. Choudary gained notoriety for being the leader of the now-banned Islamist extremist group Al-Muhajiroun, which has been linked to promoting radical ideologies and supporting terrorism.

Throughout his public life, Anjem Choudary has been involved in various activities and demonstrations advocating for the establishment of Sharia in the UK. He also expressed his support for terrorist groups and individuals linked to terrorism.

Due to his radical views and alleged involvement in activities promoting terrorism, Choudary faced legal problems. In 2016 he was found guilty of inviting support for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a terrorist organization banned in the UK. He was later sentenced to five and a half years in prison.

After serving half his sentence, Choudary was released from prison in 2018 under strict conditions, which included restrictions on his activities and movement. He remains a controversial figure, and his opinions and actions continue to be a matter of debate and concern in the UK and beyond.
